LPG Cylinder Rules 2026: The government will end LPG cylinder delivery to locations which have established PNG pipeline systems starting in June 2026. Consumers using LPG cylinders from Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas must switch to PNG connections in areas where piped gas facilities already exist. The government has established new rules for transitioning from LPG to PNG according to recent reports which will begin phasing out LPG supply in designated urban areas starting June 2026.

Government Giving Priority to PNG Connections

One household at a time, families are being noticed if they still rely on both cooking gas cylinders and pipeline networks. Where pipe networks already run underground, officials aim for people to lean more into steady fuel lines instead of refill bookings. Movement across neighborhoods shows some sticking with old habits even when new systems sit ready inside their kitchens.

Midway through this shift, officials gave people three months to move from LPG to PNG wherever pipes were already laid. Come June 2026, that window likely closes. By then, changes must be made.

When LPG Cylinders May Run Out?

Some say the new guideline targets places already using PNG pipelines. Cities without a switch by the deadline might lose access to LPG cylinders. Only spots with active infrastructure fall under this policy. Missing the window could mean no more gas cylinder deliveries there.

Even so, places far from cities that lack pipeline gas will keep getting LPG cylinders just like before. Not much shifts for them.

How to Check PNG Availability in Your Area

Start by heading to the website of your local gas provider to see if they offer PNG services where you live. Each company posts service area details online, so look up names like these on their official pages. Information is listed clearly, making it easy to confirm availability right from home. Some sites include maps or postcode checks to help narrow things down. Just type in your location to find out what options exist nearby

  • Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)
  • Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL)
  • GAIL Gas
  • Adani Total Gas

Start by picking one of these – “PNG Availability”, “Check Coverage”, or “Apply for PNG”. Once inside, fill in information like

  • City name
  • Area or locality
  • PIN code
  • Mobile number
  • Full address

After entering the location, availability of PNG pipeline service appears on screen. Sometimes it shows up right away, sometimes takes a moment. Depends where you are, really. Location data gets checked against current network zones. If coverage exists there, the result says yes. No match means it is not offered yet. System updates live as new areas get connected. Answer comes straight from latest records.

How to Apply for a PNG Connection Online

Should PNG be offered where you live, applications go straight through your regional gas company’s site. Not every location has it  check access first.

  1. The official PNG provider website needs to be visited
  2. The user needs to choose the New PNG Connection option
  3. The user needs to provide personal information which includes name address Aadhaar number and mobile number
  4. The required documents need to be uploaded
  5. The user needs to submit the online application form

Documents Required for PNG Connection

Some People might have to hand in certain papers when they’re signing up for a PNG link:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID
  • Address proof
  • Electricity bill or rent agreement
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Landlord NOC for rented properties

Should city dwellers want steady access to cooking fuel, confirming PNG access sooner rather than later makes sense. Those in urban zones might face gaps in LPG deliveries if they wait too long. Getting clarity on pipeline gas options ahead of time helps prevent surprises down the road. Living in a crowded neighborhood doesn’t guarantee uninterrupted cylinder service. Early checks could mean fewer hassles when switching fuels becomes necessary.
