EPFO PPO: Another huge update is here for EPFO members. The Employees’ Pension Scheme is also available through the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Just like PF (Provident Fund) recipients can check their account balance by visiting the EPFO website, pension recipients can also view their payment details. The PPO Enquiry and Payment Enquiry sections are accessible on the EPFO website. This provides pensioners with complete information regarding their pension accounts. However, similar to how a UAN is necessary to check PF balances, a PPO (Pension Payment Order) is required to obtain pension information. This allows you to gather comprehensive details about your pension account from the website.

Why is having a PPO important?

This is a unique 12-digit number assigned by the EPFO. When an employee retires, the EPFO issues this number, which acts as an identification code. This number confirms that the individual has a legal entitlement to receive a pension.

Why there might be a delay in receiving a pension?

You can obtain a lot of important information through the PPO inquiry or payment inquiry.

Pensioners must submit their life certificates annually. A PPO inquiry informs you about the validity of your previous certificate and when the next one is due. Failing to update it on time may lead to a suspension of your pension.
If your pension does not appear in your account for any month, you can use the PPO inquiry to check whether the payment has been released by the department or if there is an issue from the bank’s side.
You can verify if your bank account number, name, and nominee details are accurate. If there are any mistakes, they can be corrected promptly.
