This can pose financial challenges for families, especially in terms of college fees and accommodation expenses. To tackle this issue, the Madhya Pradesh government has introduced the Chief Minister’s House Rent Scheme. This initiative aims to support eligible students by providing financial aid to cover their monthly rent, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about accommodation costs.

The scheme is managed by the Department of De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Welfare of the Madhya Pradesh government. Its objective is to aid students who reside in rented accommodations away from home for educational purposes and are not staying in government hostels. Students receive a monthly rental allowance through this scheme.

Financial assistance details

– The amount of assistance varies depending on the city where the student is studying.
– Students in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain receive Rs 2000 per month.
– Those in district headquarters are granted Rs 1250 monthly.
– Students in tehsil, development block headquarters, and other cities receive Rs 1000 per month.
– If the rent exceeds the fixed assistance amount, students are responsible for the additional costs.

Eligibility criteria

– Students must reside in a rented house for educational purposes.
– They should be enrolled in a recognized college or institute.
– Students must not be residing in a government hostel.
– Income should fall within the limits of the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme.
– Regular academic progress is essential to continue receiving benefits.

– Applications are submitted online through the Samarth Portal.
– Register by clicking on the ‘Registration’ option and verify contact details.
– Log in, complete the application form with personal, educational, and banking information.
– Upload necessary documents in the specified format.
– Review the information and submit the application.
