Apple might still be a couple of months out, from doing the whole official iPhone 18 series unveiling, but new leaks already started spilling details about major upgrades headed for the next-gen Pro models. Per several reports going around online, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could show up with a fresh colour arrangement, a stronger battery endurance, and Apple’s first truly variable aperture camera system.

For the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, it’s said it will launch worldwide in September 2026, along with the usual iPhone 18 models.

New Dark Cherry Colour could replace Cosmic Orange

Okay so, one of the biggest changes people are pointing to for the iPhone 18 Pro series is a brand new signature colour pick. Some reports say Apple might add a premium “Dark Cherry” finish for the Pro lineup , and yeah it would replace the Cosmic Orange that showed up on the last generation.

This new shade is being described as a deep wine-like red tone, the kind of finish that’s made for the premium titanium Pro models. And along with Dark Cherry, Apple is reportedly also testing Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver colour variations, kinda in parallel.

Also kinda interesting, leaks are claiming Apple could just skip a standard Black option this year, which would be… pretty noticeable.

Smaller Dynamic Island

Leaked dummy unit images seem to show that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max might keep most of the same general design vibe as before. But Apple is apparently working on making the Dynamic Island cutout a bit smaller, so the front looks more polished , and less busy.

On top of that, the back panel could see small tweaks too. Sources say Apple is trying for a more seamless connection between the glass rear and the metal frame, basically to boost that higher-end feel when you hold it.

Apple could finally bring a variable aperture camera

The biggest camera upgrade people are expecting this year is, sort of, the variable aperture lens system on the main rear camera.

This would let the iPhone 18 Pro models automatically tune how much light goes into the camera sensor, sort of like DSLR and professional mirrorless cameras do. In the real world it might help with low light photography , sharper looking portraits, and better overall image quality.

If the leaks are right though, this would be the first iPhone series ever to actually include variable aperture camera technology.

Bigger battery and new A20 Pro chip

Battery life is also supposed to get a noticeable boost this year. Some reports claim the iPhone 18 Pro Max may finally clear the 5,000mAh battery mark for the first time.

The leaks suggest the Pro Max model could land in the range of 5,100mAh up to 5,200mAh. And to fit that extra capacity Apple might also nudge the Pro Max thickness a bit , just slightly.

On top of that, the upcoming phones are expected to ship with Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chipset, built on TSMC’s 2nm advanced process. Supposedly the chip brings big wins for power efficiency, AI performance and even thermal handling too.

Display sizes are expected to stay the same, with 6.3 inches for the Pro model and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.

Expected Pricing

With all those big hardware upgrades, analysts are still kind of thinking Apple may hold the line on pricing, mostly like the previous generation, you know.

Right now the iPhone 17 Pro is said to start at about ₹1,32,900 in India, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is hovering near ₹1,47,700.

Apple still hasnt officially confirmed anything about the iPhone 18 series yet, so everything people are talking about comes from leaks and supply chain reports, kind of second hand and not fully settled.
