LPG Cylinder Subsidy: Exciting news for users of domestic LPG cylinders! The central government has started sending SMS notifications to LPG consumers about their eligibility for subsidies. Verification of gas subsidies is increasingly being carried out using tax records.
This initiative comes in response to the Hormuz crisis stemming from the Iran War. Now, only individuals with low incomes will qualify for the subsidy on cylinders. The central government aims to prevent fraudulent claims and ensure that subsidies are allocated to those who genuinely need them.
Response must be provided within 7 days
According to the information shared in the messages sent to LPG consumers, those with an annual taxable income exceeding Rs 10 lakh must either submit their complete details or respond accurately within 7 days; failure to do so will result in strict consequences.
Moreover, the Central Government’s message clearly states that if a satisfactory response is not received within 7 days, the LPG subsidy will be entirely revoked. The government has consistently issued stern warnings that individuals with annual incomes over Rs 10 lakh are ineligible for LPG subsidies. The messages being dispatched are thoroughly checked to ensure that only those in need benefit from the gas subsidy.
People must pay close attention to these regulations
However, various media reports suggest that this process may involve quick matching of PAN-linked tax records, family details associated with Aadhaar, and LPG consumer databases. Additionally, the income of gas connection holders and their family members may soon be scrutinized. What important documents need updating?
It is crucial to note that all recipients of such notices must promptly verify their KYC documents and link records by visiting their registered LPG distributor and the oil marketing portal.
What will happen after the subsidy is stopped?
If someone’s subsidy is stopped, they will still receive gas cylinders. However, the cylinders will have to be purchased at market price, and the subsidy amount will no longer be credited to their bank account.
