Ration Card e-KYC Update: The Food Department has issued an important notice to all ration card holders nationwide. The government is taking strict measures to make the Public Distribution System (PDS) more transparent and organized. e-KYC is now mandatory for those receiving free wheat and rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Food Scheme). If this process is not completed on time, names may be removed from the ration card.

Deadline for e-KYC

According to the government’s new directives, verification of every member listed on the ration card is mandatory. The deadline for this is January 31st. All family members must link their Aadhaar card to their ration card and provide biometric identification. Those who do not complete their e-KYC may have their ration supply stopped.

Why is Biometric Verification Necessary?

The government aims to eliminate irregularities in the system through this step. Often, names of people who are no longer eligible or have passed away remain on ration cards. In some cases, people continue to receive rations at their old address even after they have moved. e-KYC will ensure that only genuine and needy individuals receive the benefits of government schemes.

What will happen if e-KYC is not done on time?

If e-KYC is not completed by the deadline, the names of the concerned members may be removed from the ration card. This will reduce the quantity of free rations received by the family and directly impact their monthly quota.

Where and How to Complete e-KYC?

The e-KYC process is very simple and does not require visiting any government office:

Go to your nearest government ration shop.

Carry your ration card and the Aadhaar cards of all family members.

Complete the biometric verification using the machine available at the ration shop.
