New Delhi: PF employees are now facing a variety of interest questions. The central government provides interest to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation members every year. Interest is paid on deposits in EPF accounts. Discussions are currently rife regarding the interest rates for the financial years 2025 and 2026.

It is expected that the government may increase interest rates to 8.75 per cent this time. If this happens, it will represent an increase of 0.50 per cent. The central government previously provided 8.2 per cent interest for the financial years 2024 and 2025. This amount has been credited to all PF employees’ accounts. The interest amount may be approved in January, but no official announcement has been made yet.

The interest amount for PF employees for the financial years 2025 and 2026 may be announced. This time, they may receive 8 per cent interest. The EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet. The interest rate may be approved at this meeting. The date for the meeting is not yet finalised.

If a PF employee has ₹5 lakh in their account, they can receive up to ₹42,000 in interest. If an employee has ₹6 lakh in their account, they can receive ₹50,000 in interest. This amount can be transferred at 8.75%. Approximately 8 crore employees will receive the interest benefit, and all are eagerly awaiting it.
