GST Complaint Toll-Free Number: New GST rates came into effect across the country on September 22nd. As part of comprehensive reforms to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), only two slabs have been implemented instead of four. The new rates are 5% and 18%. This change has made nearly 99% of everyday items cheaper. However, the government also stated that if any customer or consumer is not receiving the benefit of the GST reduction, they can call the toll-free number 1915 and lodge a complaint.

Complaints can also be made through WhatsApp and the INGRAM portal

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) stated that you can also send your complaint to the WhatsApp number 8800001915. Additionally, it is also possible to complain to the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (INGRAM) portal. The CBIC clarified that customers can directly reach the government with their complaints through these channels.

Impact of GST Reforms

The old system had four GST rates – 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. The new system applies only two rates – 5% and 18%. GST on many daily-use items, which was previously 18%, has now been reduced to 5%. GST on some items has also been completely abolished. The government has stated that companies are monitoring their pricing and reducing prices in accordance with the new rates.

Monitoring Customer Problems

If a company is not providing benefits to customers despite the new rates, consumers can immediately complain about the toll-free number or the INGRAM portal. The government has taken the initiative to simplify and expedite this process so that every customer can receive benefits promptly.
