Free Ration : There is good news for lakhs of ration card holders of UP. Card holders are now going to get free ration. This time, along with wheat and rice, card holders will also be given three kilos of sugar. If rice is not taken, maize will be given. The date for ration distribution has also been issued. Regarding ration distribution, the Food and Logistics Department has issued instructions to the DMs and District Supply Officers of all the districts. Ration, sugar and maize will be distributed to ration card holders from 10th to 28th December.
Instructions have been given to make arrangements so that card holders do not face any kind of difficulty at ration shops. Under the National Food Security Act, 14 kg wheat, 16 kg fortified rice and 5 kg maize will be given to the beneficiaries of Antyodaya Anna Yojana in Agra, Aligarh, Auraiya, Bahraich, Ballia, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Etah, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Firozabad, Gonda, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Mirzapur, Rampur, Sambhal and Unnao.
If maize is not available, rice will be given in its place. Whereas in the remaining districts, 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice will be distributed free of cost. Not only this, three kg sugar will be distributed to Antyodaya card holders from October to December quarterly at the rate of Rs 18 per card, totaling Rs 54. Essential commodities will be distributed from ration shops from 8 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 6 pm. Whereas, two kg wheat and three kg fortified rice will be distributed to eligible household ration card holders.
Food and Logistics Commissioner Anamika Singh has said in the order issued that Antyodaya card holders will be given ration from October to December. She said that in the blocks where there is single stage transport system, in any case, food grains will be delivered to the fair price sellers by 9th December under the regular scheme. The Commissioner said that a nodal officer will be nominated by the DM for physical verification of food grains and sugar at each fair price shop. The physical verification of food grains at the fair price shop will be done by the SDM through the said nodal officer and ration will be distributed.
