Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 EV saw just 11 sales in May despite a ₹4 lakh discount, dropping Hyundai to 3rd place in overall car sales.
The Ioniq 5 hit its lowest monthly sales (11 units), worse than Jan-Feb (16 each) and March (19). Even at ₹42 lakh, buyers stayed away.
SUVs like Creta, Venue, and Exter sold well, but the Ioniq 5 and Tucson struggled. Buyers may be waiting for the upcoming Creta EV.
The Ioniq 5 has a futuristic cabin with recycled materials, dual 12.3-inch screens, and Level 2 ADAS with 21 safety features.
With a 72.6kWh battery, it offers 631 km range (ARAI) and 217hp RWD power. Superfast charging refills 10-80% in 18 mins.
Launched at ₹44.95L in 2023, its price rose to ₹46.05L. The ₹4L discount (now ₹42.05L) still couldn’t boost demand.
Hyundai’s EV push faces hurdles as the Ioniq 5 lags. Will the Creta EV revive its electric dreams?
